Parent Letter This Week

A paper copy of a brief introductory letter will go home with our AIG students this week. Fourth grade may already be in transit. I did have students write the times of our groups on the bottom. I'll complete fifth graders with our Friday groups and send them along!
Ask your kids about our groups!
Thanks for all your support! Jones has been an awesome place to be!

September 2014
Hola! My name is John Pruett, and I’m the new AIG specialist for Jones Elementary. I say new, but this is my eighteenth year with Asheville City Schools.

I am excited to work at Jones for many reasons. This school has a sterling reputation, and I know Ms. Cain has had great success here as evidenced by student growth and a huge enrollment. I will primarily work with grades three through five, and those folks have impressed me with not only their commitment to excellence but also their kindness.  I’ve been made to feel very welcome.

As I’m sure you know, AIG services are specific in qualifying highly-able students based on their strengths. To this end, our scheduling and grouping is mindful to address giftedness in aptitude, reading, and math.  Should you ever have any questions about AIG services please feel free to contact me.

In terms of communications, I can be reached by phone or email, noted below.  I have already sent a group email to 4th/5th grade parents, so I’m hoping you’ve heard from me already.  I will also continue to develop a blog to highlight items of interest to the Jones community. Check it out at:

In our first meetings, all Jones AIG students reviewed the program and the focus of their groups. Part of this time has been spent getting to know me and each other.
I look forward to talking further, and soon! Thanks!
