More Profiles from 4th

Here's some more presentations from our Jones' 4th grade CSG.

Personal Profiles

Fourth grade CSG students have been working on personal profiles using Google Presentation. We've been recording these for your perusal.

Math Simulation

Fifth grade ASG math students continue work on a simulation called "Adrift." In this work students use map and math skills to lead a search for a lost sailor. Each of the pictured partners has specific assignments to complete the work and share with the team. There are even some brief homework assignments. Six of eight students turned in the initial assignment. Not too bad. The next is due 1/28.

Letters About Literature

Image
Our fourth grade ASG in reading has been working on "Letters About Literature." Students discussed books that had made an impact on their lives and then wrote letters to the authors. This activity is actually a contest sponsored in part by the Library of Congress. What were these books, you may ask? Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling Belly Up by Stuart Gibbs Cat Wings by Ursula K. LeGuin Little House on the Prairie   by Laura Ingalls Wilder The Friendly Snowflake   by M. Scott Peck Wonder   by R. J. Palacio Theodore Boone   by John Grisham It's always interesting for me to see the literature that looms large in kids lives!

Fossils, Fossils, Fossils!

As you probably know if you've followed this blog, I've had the good fortune to team teach in fourth grade with the delightful Mrs. Tarantino over the last few weeks. We have now facilitated all fourth grade students in becoming paleontologists by observing and identifying fossils from the PCS Phosphate Mine in Aurora, NC. Here are some snaps of students discovering and carefully observing in their science notebooks. Thanks, Mrs. Tarantino and future scientists!
