Back in School

It is my pleasure to be back with the fine folks at Jones Elementary this year!

The exciting news for me is that Jones will be my sole elementary assignment this year. What this means is a more stable schedule, one that, tentatively, will have me here on Monday through Thursday. FYI, my Fridays will be spent supporting the efforts at SILSA - totally new territory for me.

It was great to see returning faces this morning. I know everyone will have an awesome first day! I for one will be glad to get a couple of weeks in - to adjust to a new schedule and get used to getting up early.

As classes begin, I will be working with teachers to finalize schedules for meeting with AIG students. Thanks for your patience as we all get up and running. I'll send specifics home via email and paper.

Definitely look for more details in the coming days! As with last year, I'll plan on posting our happenings via this blog.

Thanks again for all your support! I loved being here last year and look forward to more of the same!

Magnet School Info for Potential Kindergarteners

If you have children ready for kindergarten next year (or know someone who does!) here is some information in regard to the upcoming Magnet Schools Information sessions.  Families invited to learn more about Asheville City Schools’ Five Magnet Elementary Schools and Preschool  1.        Asheville City Schools will host  Magnet School Information Nights on  Tuesday, January 12 , from  6:30 - 8:00 PM  at the ACS Central Office Board Room, 85 Mountain Street and on  Tuesday, January 19  from  5:45-6:30 PM  at the Asheville Preschool, 441 Haywood Road.  The event will include the magnet school enrollment process, highlights of unique program and curriculum areas, a video tour featuring each school and interactive visits to information/resource stations. 2.        Parents/guardians of children who will enter kindergarten on  July 20  (Hall Fletcher Elementary on a year-round schedule) or  August 29  (Traditional Calendar) are encouraged to attend as well as families new to the di
